Jomast has completed work on an extension of the Travelodge on Metropolitan Park, Hartlepool.
The £3m hotel, which was built by Jomast Developments, opened in November 2012 with 65 bedrooms and this recent work will add a further 12.
The hotel reached mature occupancy levels within weeks of opening and the additional bedrooms will enable Travelodge to meet strong customer demand and provide more capacity for both business and leisure travellers alike.
The hotel’s Metropolitan Park location has proved particularly popular as it offers great views over the waterfront and is only minutes away from the town centre and other local attractions. The area has also established itself as a leisure destination in its own right, with a VUE cinema and several restaurants.
To celebrate its success and the completion of the work on the Travelodge, Jomast has announced that it will be looking to further develop the site with additional restaurants and other leisure uses.
Adam Hearld, development director at Jomast, said:
“We are delighted to have been able to extend Travelodge facilities to meet the high demand for rooms.
The redevelopment of the hotel is the first exciting step towards what will ultimately be a bigger regeneration project on Metropolitan Park.
“It has the potential become a highly successful leisure destination that will give customers even more choice and in turn bring more people to the area.”
